NEW PARTNERSHIP FORMED BETWEEN SPILLARD SAFETY SYSTEMS AND SEARS SEATING

Spillard Safety Systems of Gailey in Staffordshire has further extended its long-standing co-operation with Sears Seating  by becoming the sole UK distributor for its new vibration monitoring system (VMS).

This system has been developed to help quarry managers comply with the latest EU directive (EU Physical Agents Directive or PAD) on whole body vibration which came into force throughout Europe on July 6th covering both existing and new mobile equipment.

VMS utilises sensors placed within a plant operator’s seat to monitor vertical, lateral and horizontal vibrations, with an in-cab visual display showing the relative vibrations in real time as well as cumulative exposure. In addition, the data is logged for later downloading to enable detailed analysis to be undertaken as required. This information is now vital to enable quarry operators to monitor and then restrict the exposure to vibration of quarry personnel to specified limits per eight hour day.

Commenting on the appointment, managing director Pete Spillard said: “I am delighted we have been given this new opportunity to reinforce our already excellent relationship with Sears. The new vibration monitoring system system is a cost-effective solution to enable equipment owners to meet the provisions of the new directives and we will be able to contribute a wealth of installation experience to the partnership.”
