Sword of Honour for Alfred McAlpine Slate

For the second year in a row, Alfred McAlpine Slate Ltd have received a prestigious accolade for their health and safety performance.
In 2004 the company was one of only 40 organizations worldwide to be presented with a British Safety Council Sword of Honour, which is recognized as the pinnacle of safety achievement.

Only organizations that attain the maximum rating in the Council’s Five Star Health and Safety Management System Audit are eligible to apply. Organizations also have to prove that they have a culture of aiming for best practice, promoted from the boardroom to the shop floor.

Presenting the sword to Geraint Roberts, operations director of Alfred McAlpine Slate, the British Safety Council’s director general, David Ballard, said: ‘You have shown your commitment to excellence by demonstrating that a safety culture is integral to your organization. I am sure that your business, your clients, and the community in which you operate are already seeing great benefits.’
