Committed to heavy goods vehicle safety

One of Spillard’s key sectors is Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs); anything over 7.5 tonnes. This sector is a logical development for Spillard moving from heavy mining machinery onto more on highway commercial vehicles.

Drivers of HGVs are largely reliant on a much needed 360 degree vision; improving all-round awareness to avoid incidents and accidents when driving at speed, or slow manoeuvring when preparing to load/unload at a depot or behind a superstore.

Spillard can provide and install technology such as multiple cameras, recorders and monitors to enable the driver to safely operate the vehicle in and around populated areas, from the depot to the store. This technology can be professionally installed in the cab within arm’s reach of the driver and around the outside of the vehicle.

Example of vehicle types:

  • 2 axle, from 7.5 tonne to 18 tonne
  • 3 axle rigid, 25 tonne
  • 3 axle articulated, 26 tonne
  • 4 axle rigid, 30 tonne
  • 4 axle articulated, 30 tonne
  • 5 axle plus, 40 tonne plus

The clear risks associated with moving vehicles cannot be understated. With new risks presenting themselves as we move forward, it is up to us to help reduce the number of accidents, both fatal and non-fatal. Our priority is keeping people safe and making sure these numbers fall.
