Committed to construction vehicle safety

This market was in such demand to protect both operators and vehicles from incidents and accidents, Spillard was the obvious choice in the early 00’s to provide their expert knowledge to help with vehicle blind spots.

The incidents due to multiple vehicles operating, the pressure of deadlines to work to and, sometimes, reduced visibility due to weather, dust and windscreen damage. These operators are required to work more efficiently onsite day or night. They are sometimes isolated but often must work alongside other construction vehicles in close proximity, where a collision is a high risk.

With Spillard technology, we can eliminate this risk by providing state of the art camera equipment, digital recorders and monitors to enable the driver to safely operate the machinery onsite whilst working efficiently, but most importantly, safely. A whole host of sensors at the front and rear of the vehicle also help to eliminate issues, but also enable the operator to work with a sense of 360-degree vision using both sight, sound and Spillard technology.

Spillard AI Human Detection System in action

In this video, the effectiveness of Spillard’s AI Human Detection System is demonstrated, showing how quickly the operator is alerted if an on-site worker is positioned within 5 metres of the vehicle in real time. Through deep learning technology, the operator is given full transparency of which direction on-site workers are located in, while the workers are informed when the machine can be safely approached.

Example of vehicle types:

  • Bulldozers
  • Backhoe Loaders
  • Site Dumpers
  • Cranes
  • Telehandlers
  • Compactors
  • Excavators
  • Pavers
  • Rollers
  • Concrete Mixer Truck
  • HGVs

The clear risks associated with moving vehicles cannot be understated. With new risks presenting themselves as we move forward, it is up to us to help reduce the number of accidents, both fatal and non-fatal. Our priority is keeping people safe and making sure these numbers fall.
